Leeds Carnegie have been confirmed as champions of National Division One after their closest rivals Exeter Chiefs lost to Rotherham Titans on Saturday.
The Tykes will be presented with the championship trophy at today’s home match against Newbury at Headingley.
Head coach Neil Back said: “I am delighted for everyone at the club after all the hard work that has been put in this season.
“Hopefully there will be plenty of kids who come along on Sunday to enjoy the day and it would be great to see them supporting us next year in the Guinness Premiership.”
Leeds came into the weekend knowing they did not have to rely on other results, as a victory tomorrow would have made certain of the title.
However Exeter, their only remaining rivals for the top spot, handed them the championship a day earlier than expected when the slipped up 35-21 in South Yorkshire.
Leeds will submit their application to the Rugby Football Union for promotion to the Guinness Premiership in the coming week.
Their title triumph means they are set for a return to the big time just a season after being relegated.
Exeter will finish second, with Bedford Blues and Doncaster Knights battling it out for third spot.
