Strokosch sweats on injury

Scotland's Alasdair Strokosch faces an anxious wait to see if the injury he picked up in Gloucester's defeat against Northampton takes him out of the British & Irish Lions reckoning.

Strokosch was one of Scotland's few successes in the 2009 RBS 6 Nations after starting the championship on the bench.

He was introduced by former coach Frank Hadden after the opening-weekend defeat to Wales and maintained his place in the back row to prompt many, including three-time Lions flanker Lawrence Dallaglio, to suggest he was worth a place on the plane to South Africa.

But he limped out of the Cherry and Whites' game clash with Saints after just 21 minutes to be replaced by Andy Hazell at a time when coach Ian McGeechan is finalising his squad.

In contrast, John Barclay dropped for the Calcutta Cup match by Hadden - scored two tries for Glasgow in their Magners League win over Scarlets to push his Lions claims.

Winger Thom Evans also boosted his credentials as one of the few Scots to make the tour with a fine double.
