Henderson is the Warriors longest-serving player and during his time with his hometown club he established himself as a fixture in the Scotland midfield.

But the combination of Max Evans and Graeme Morrison has eased him out of the international picture – as well as marginalising him to a certain degree with his club side.

And with Rob Dewey poised to join the Warriors from Ulster next season, Henderson’s chances game time will reduce further in 2009/10.

Meanwhile he also has the Edinburgh duo of Ben Cairns and Nick de Luca to fight off in Scotland terms – leading to Henderson opting to join Montauban in France from next season.

Henderson said: “My Glasgow contract is up at the end of the season and I have always wanted the challenge of playing somewhere else some time in my career, so last summer I thought if things didn’t go my way this season I’d think about trying that now.”
