And the Scotland forward has also taken some heart from what has otherwise been a disappointing European Cup campaign.

However, Glasgow's captain is seeking improvements as the battle for league honours comes to the crunch.

He said: "Although some results haven’t gone our way so far in this campaign, we still find ourselves in a great position.

"However, we must now find something that all teams strive for - some real consistency – if we are to be fighting it out amongst the top teams come the middle of May.

"We are all disappointed not to have gone as far in the European Cup as we would have liked.

"However, our European Cup campaign has also given supporters the chance to see some of our emerging talent such as Ruaridh Jackson, who had a fantastic debut at stand-off down in Bath showing he can perform on the big stage."
