Wales have been hit by a fresh injury worry ahead of the RBS 6 Nations, with experienced winger Mark Jones facing a racing against time after undergoing an appendix operation.

The Llanelli speedster went to hospital on Monday complaining of stomach pains and has now been told to rest for three weeks.

The blow comes in the wake of concerns over current IRB player of the year Shane Williams, another wing.

Currently nursing a shoulder problem, Williams has been sidelined since mid-December but could return for Ospreys on Friday at home to Munster.
