Hamilton feels at home

Scotland lock Jim Hamilton hopes rugby fans north of the border are starting to appreciate his qualities.

Hamilton moved from English giants Leicester to Edinburgh over the summer after just a handful of matches for his adopted country Scotland.

His close-season transfer was made in order to cement his place in the Scotland pack and it has had the desired effect with the second-rower now a fixture in the side.

After injury disrupted the start of his season he is now showing his worth for Edinburgh too and will line up alongside namesake Craig in the boiler house for the 1872 Cup match with Glasgow at Murrayfield.

Fit-again Scotland hooker Ross Ford as well as Test reserves Gavin Kerr and Ross Rennie - available after his ban - come into the side with youngster John Houston drafted in on the wing.

Hamilton, a contender for a place in the Lions squad next year, is eager to continue to make an impression on Edinburgh fans.

He said: “I’ve been up here for a few months now and hopefully Scottish rugby fans are starting to see what I can do; both for Edinburgh and for Scotland.”
