Scotland stand-off Phil Godman hopes to recreate a schoolboy partnership on the international stage in November.
The former Newcastle star was named in Frank Hadden’s squad for the Autumn Tests earlier in the week and will battle it out with Chris Paterson and Dan Parks for the No. 10 shirt.
Should he overcome the claims of kicking star Parks and the experienced Paterson he will line up with Mike Blair, whom he first played with at Edinburgh Academy 16 years ago.
He added: “I have always enjoyed playing alongside Mike; I’ve played with him since I was 10. We went to the same school and he was in the year above me.
“I also played Scottish schools with him and Scotland under-18 as well. He is a world-class player and he is a joy to play with.”
Blair has been named captain of the national side for the three Tests after leading Scotland with distinction in the RBS 6 Nations.
