Scotland coach Frank Hadden's preparations for the Autumn Tests were dealt a blow when English Premiership clubs refused to release their Scotland stars for a squad get-together.
Captain Jason White was among those denied the chance to meet up with his national squad when his club Sale stood firm.
Sharks winger Rory Lamont was also unable to join up, as were the Gloucester quartet of Rory and Scott Lawson, Alasdair Dickinson and Alasdair Strokosch.
Northampton winger Sean Lamont and prop Euan Murray also missed out as did stand-off pair Stephen Jones of Newcastle and Saracens' Gordon Ross.
Ten players attached to clubs in England were asked to attend yesterday's training session at Murrayfield after Hadden had named a 50-strong squad ahead of a tough Autumn schedule.
Scotland host New Zealand at Murrayfield on November 8 followed by South Africa a week later.
They then travel to Aberdeen to play Canada at Pittodrie on November 22.
