Former Scotland captain Gordon Bulloch has paid tribute to Gordon Mackay, who died suddenly last week at the age of 39.
Bulloch believes Mackay - who passed away at his home in Glasgow - was one of the finest players never awarded a full Scotland cap.
The pair got to know each other during their time at Glasgow in the 1990s, when Bulloch climbed the ladder from a raw, promising hooker to seasoned Lions tourist.
The former Leeds forward said: "Gordon was one of the great characters of the game in Scotland over the past couple of decades.
"His career spanned the transition between amateur and professional rugby and I don't think his talents were full rewarded.
"He was part of the Glasgow side I skippered in the European Cup campaigns 10 years ago and in terms of effort and enthusiasm there was no-one better."
