Counties-Manukau centre Niva Ta'auso will join Connacht for the forthcoming season.
The 28-year-old centre will not be arriving in Galway until October when the current season in New Zealand is complete, but Connacht manager Tim Allnutt sees Ta'auso as a major addition to his side.
"Niva is a very powerful strong running centre," he said. "He's a line-breaker and a good distributor of the ball and we feel he'll improve our play in a crucial area".
The Samoan-born player, who has played Super 14 rugby for the Chiefs and Highlanders, was a Junior All Black two years ago and debuted for Counties-Manukau in 2001.
