John Houston has set his sights on regular first-team rugby with Edinburgh this campaign after a splendid rookie season.
The 25-year-old was named Newcomer of the Year and received the Try of the Year award for his effort against Toulouse in the club's end of season dinner.
Having joined Edinburgh from Heriot’s – after starting out in club rugby with Hawick – and in his first season as a professional he also crossed for a try against Leinster in the European Cup as he made 16 starts.
He is now hoping to battle with the likes of Scotland men Ben Cairns and Nick de Luca for starting places in Edinburgh's midfield.
Houston said: “I was both pretty surprised and delighted to have won two awards. It was a special moment for me and one I will remember for a long time.”
“It will be a case of another year, another challenge. There are more players coming in and there will be more competition for places, so it is important that I keep my head down and have another good pre-season.
“Hopefully then I can challenge for a starting place in every game this season.”
