Scotland hooker Ross Ford is excited by the arrival of two of his international team-mates at Edinburgh.
Andy Robinson has boosted his squad for the new season by signing Chris Paterson from Gloucester and Jim Hamilton from Leicester Tigers.
Paterson will add depth to the backs as he can cover the full-back and wing positions as well as his favoured stand-off role.
The man from Gala is also arguably the world's premier goalkicker and his return to Edinburgh just 12 months after heading south is a major lift.
Hamilton will add bulk to the pack as he seeks to secure his place in the Scotland side for the Autumn Tests and the 2009 RBS 6 Nations.
Both players struggled with form in this year's RBS 6 Nations after failing to play many minutes for Gloucester and Leicester last season.
He said: “They add even mores strength in depth into the squad. With Mossy (Paterson) coming in, we’ve got a world-class goalkicker with a lot of experience.
"He has played in England, he is Scotland’s most-capped player and he has got so much more to give to the younger boys.
“He can show them how to do it and the younger boys can push him as hard as he wants.
"Jim is another good signing who has played for Leicester and has a lot of experience. It certainly bodes well for the future.”
