By Rob Barnett
Premiership sides Harlequins and Sale Sharks have confirmed their pre-season fixture list.
Quins’ programme includes a clash with local rivals London Irish at the Twickenham Stoop on August 23.

Before that coach Dean Richards’ side face a trip to Irish side Connacht on the August 16. They finish their pre-season campaign against Italian side Overmach Parma on August 30.

Quins’ begin the Premiership season versus Saracens at the London Double Header on September 6.

Meanwhile, Sale will travel to France at the start of next month to take part in the Challenge Vaquerin. Sharks will play Perpignan at St Affrique on August 6 and Montpellier at Camares on August 9.

The Sharks return to Edgeley Park on August 22 where they face Leeds Carnegie who were relegated from the Premiership last season. The game is the second part of a double-header with Sedgeley Park playing Sale’s second string immediately before.

Their final warm up game is at home to Lyon on August 28 before they travel to Newcastle Falcons in their opening Premiership fixture.

Sale director of rugby Philippe Saint Andre told the club website: "The Challenge Vaquerin will be very tough for us but will help the players in their preparation for the new season.

“The double header on Friday 22nd August will give me the opportunity to look at all my players in action on the same evening. It will also give us the opportunity to learn and put into practice the Experimental Law Variations. Places are up for grabs for the new season and it should be a great night for the supporters too."
