Scotland lock Jim Hamilton admits the prospect of being involved in massive European Cup ties was one of the reasons behind his move to Edinburgh.
The giant second row forward has joined Andy Robinson's squad after leaving Leicester in search of regular first-team action – and to display his ability on a regular basis to Scotland coach Frank Hadden.
Hamilton started the RBS 6 Nations match against France in February but a lack of match fitness left him below par and, combined with an injury problem, his tournament ended prematurely.
Now Hamilton can't wait to face Wasps in pre-season - and then the London side in the pool stage of the European Cup just a few weeks later.
The 25-year-old said: “I’m sure in the backs of their minds, the Wasps coaches will be looking to come up here and get a win in pre-season.
"It is important for them because they know teams struggle to come to Murrayfield and win.
“The European Cup match is a long way away with pre-season and everything else, but both teams will be looking to get that edge.”
