Blair, who has been described by the Scottish Rugby Union as Scotland’s captain recently, insists that particular job still belongs to Jason White.

But his senior position in the team, and his experience under Robinson with Edinburgh, makes him an influential member of the Scotland set-up.

Coaches Lineen, who bosses Glasgow Warriors, and Robinson may be asked to accompany Scotland boss Frank Hadden to Argentina for the two Tests in June.

However the SRU have not yet confirmed their coaching staff for the tour and Blair insists he is in the dark.

“We have a young squad and the guys have been constantly learning from the coaches at the clubs,” said Blair.

“At Edinburgh we have been really pleased at Andy (Robinson) coming in.

“He has looked at a lot of the finer details and it bodes well for the future. We have a good working relationship.”

Scotland won just once during their disappointing RBS 6 Nations Championship campaign, beating England at Murrayfield.

“Sean Lineen and Andy helped out during the England week,” Blair said.

“They didn't have a massive say on what was going on but they were a benefit to help any little things that could have been tweaked a little bit.

“To be honest I don't know what the format will be for this tour so we will just have to wait and be told.”

New Zealand-born Lineen and Englishman Robinson have brought their own ideas and influences to the Scottish game, which Blair has welcomed.

But he stressed that Scotland’s experience under their Australian former coach Matt Williams had been an important learning process, and insists there needs to be strong Scottish input in the national team.

“I think it’s important to get the right blend. I think you need people who know how the Scottish mindset works,” Blair said.

“When Matt Williams was in charge, I think that was his major downfall - he didn't know the Scottish mentality or understand the expectation levels of this nation.

“I think it’s very important you have people who know Scottish rugby.”

Scrum-half Blair finished the RBS 6 Nations campaign as Scotland’s captain, with White on the bench, and it remains to be seen who Hadden selects to skipper the side in Argentina.

White suffered concussion in Scotland’s match against Wales in the second round of the championship, and could not win back his place in the starting XV.

“As far as I see it, Jason is the Scotland captain,” said Blair.
