Glasgow had to grind - Parks
12 April 2008, 11:31 am
By Tim Sanderson
Glasgow hero Dan Parks hero admits the Warriors had to dig deep for their victory over Edinburgh at Firhill.
The Scotland stand-off had an indifferent RBS 6 Nations but has bounced back in recent weeks for his club.

The Sydney-born player scored all of his side’s points as they defeated Andy Robinson’s side 23-14 in the league - and also claim the 1872 Challenge Cup.

Edinburgh took the lead when Ben Cairns set Andy Turnbull up for the winger to go in at the corner but Parks hit back with a terrific solo try.

Phil Godman, who did not feature in the RBS 6 Nations, then exchanged numerous kicks with Parks before the Glasgow man finished a wonderful move involving Scotland flanker John Barclay for his second try.

He then added a late drop goal to put the seal on a convincing victory for Sean Lineen’s young side.

Parks said: “We had to win the game to give ourselves the chance of going up the (league) ladder. First and foremost that was our goal.

“Edinburgh kept coming at us but you know that if you keep grinding away we could get the win.

“Playing Edinburgh is a big game and the boys were naturally up for it. It was pleasing going into the dressing room and seeing Sean Lineen smile.”
