Alasdair Strokosch
Alasdair Strokosch
European action for Scots quartet
4 April 2008, 11:01 am
By Tim Sanderson
Four Scotland stars are gearing up for the quarter-finals of the European Cup.
Nikki Walker will line up on the wing for the Ospreys - one of the few non-Welshmen in the in-form side - for their clash with Saracens.

The former Borders back is in good form for his side having recovered from the injury which kept him out of Scotland's final match of the 2008 RBS 6 Nations.

In their last game against Ulster at the Liberty Stadium, he was tackled just short of the line but had enough power and momentum to take him over the whitewash and further increase the Ospreys' advantage in a match they won 32-7.

The biggest tie of the last eight is at Kingsholm where Gloucester play host to former champions Munster.

As many as four Scotland players could be in the home team's line-up for the meeting with the powerful Irish province.

Alasdair Strokosch, such a strong presence in Scotland's RBS 6 Nations campaign, is almost certain to be included on the blindside flank.

Another Alasdair, prop forward Dickinson, started on the bench in the Cherry and Whites last game against Worcester.

Scrum-half Rory Lawson - Scotland's reserve No 9 by the end of the RBS 6 Nations - is likely to hold off the challenge of Welshman Gareth Cooper.

Finally, Chris Paterson will be hoping his goalkicking prowess sees him given the nod at stand-off ahead of Ryan Lamb for the battle with Ireland's  Ronan O'Gara.

Meanwhile Jason White will captain Sale Sharks in the quarter-final of the Challenge Cup against French side Brive. Hooker Scott Lawson is on the bench.
