Kelly eager to see off Glasgow

By Rob Barnett
Scotland A hooker Andrew Kelly claims the home-grown players in Edinburgh's squad are fired-up to defeat Glasgow in next week's crunch clash.
Scotland's two professional sides go head to head at the Firhill Arena next Friday evening in the Celtic League.

Even though the teams are playing for points to add to their league tally, they will also be playing for the 1872 Challenge Cup.

The first ever match between the sides was 135 years ago and to commemorate the event, the intercity cup has been resurrected.

The cup will be claimed by Edinburgh if they win but Glasgow can also pick it up if they beat Andy Robinson's men by more than four points.

Kelly said: "Everyone was really disappointed with the result, but we learnt a lot from the game. Cardiff had a big pack and dominated, so we need to learn from that and improve.

"But we have got a great opportunity to bounce back from that disappointment with the forthcoming derby match against Glasgow. It is always good to play them and hopefully we will perform well in front of a big crowd.

"A lot of the players come from Edinburgh which makes games like these even more special because we are representing our city.

"I grew up in Edinburgh and I am very proud of the fact that I have got the chance to play for my hometown team.

"Everyone that I know takes an interest in this match and they will all be looking for a good result. We know what is expected of us and we will be focusing on delivering a good performance."
