Walker ruled out of Italian Test

Wing Nikki Walker has been ruled out of the Scotland team for Saturday's final RBS 6 Nations Championship match against Italy in Rome.

Walker (Ospreys), who won his 14th cap in last weekend’s Calcutta Cup victory, saw an injury to his right ankle flare-up during team training at Murrayfield this afternoon and after consultation with the Scotland medical team decided to stand down.

The Scotland coaches have added centre Andrew Henderson (Glasgow Warriors), the uncapped centre Ben Cairns (Edinburgh) and Glasgow Warriors openside flanker John Barclay to the remaining 21 players who will travel to Rome tomorrow. Scotland always travel to away internationals with 24 players.

A revised Scotland team, taking account of Walker’s injury absence, will be announced tomorrow.
