Scotland have added hooker Scott Lawson and wing Simon Danielli to their squad for Saturday's RBS 6 Nations match against Italy in Rome.
Lawson and Danielli trained at Murrayfield on Monday after it was confirmed that both Ross Ford and Rory Lamont have been ruled out of the match at the Stadio Flaminio following the injuries they sustained in the Calcutta Cup win against England.
Winger Nikki Walker was the only other member of the Scotland squad from the weekend who was unable to train following an ankle injury but Scotland team doctor James Robson expects him to be able to resume training on Tuesday.
Lamont was examined by facial and eye specialists at St John’s Hospital, Livingston on Monday following the head knock he sustained at the weekend.
Dr Robson said: “Once the swelling around Rory’s eye has settled down he will undergo surgery later in the week.”
Meanwhile, Ford is undergoing further investigation following the ankle ligament injury he suffered on Saturday.
