The shortlist of names was compiled in conjunction with Team RBS – six ex-international players who act as RBS ambassadors for each of the nations involved in the Championship:
England – Jason Leonard
Ireland – Keith Wood
Scotland – David Sole
Wales – Ieuan Evans
France – Philippe St Andre
Italy – Alessandro Moscardi
Each member of Team RBS submitted the names of the three players (in order of preference) that they deemed most worthy of winning the award, based on their performance in the 2008 Championship. The six highest-ranking players were then chosen to form the shortlist.
The fan vote will run from 9am on Monday 10th March until 5pm on Monday 17th March, at which point the player with the highest number of votes will be chosen as the Player of the RBS 6 Nations Championship.
This player will be presented with the official Player of the RBS 6 Nations Championship Award at the first possible opportunity, and the result announced on http://www.rbs6nations.com/.
